Lake Anna Lake Anna maintains an excellent largemouth bass population. Most Anna bass fall within the slot-limit range of 12 to 15' and 1 to 2 lbs., but fish up to 6 lbs. are not unusual. Black crappie, striped bass and catfish numbers are very good too. Lake Chesdin Lake Chesdin supports a strong largemouth population and consistently ranks among Virginia's best for bass over 8 pounds. Lake Chesdin offers mice crappie and channel cat numbers as well. Smith Mountain Lake Stripers are Smith Mountain Lake?s marquee attraction with typical fishing weighting in between 5 to 10 lbs. Monster stripers occasionally show up here, including the 45 lb., 10 oz. state record. Smith Mountain?s largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie and catfish populations continue to grow while anglers continue to over look the trophy musky and walleye.
